How do you like your eggs? 🍳 For us, we prefer them swimming in Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary! This image isn’t an actual swimming egg, it’s an egg-yolk jelly, also known as the fried egg jellyfish. That yellow yolk-ish mass in the center is actually the jelly’s reproductive tissue. Its thin white tentacles can hang up to 20 feet below the jelly’s bell, creating a drift net that can capture its prey. Megg ran out of ink! 👀😹 Here’s what happened: Most chickens eggs don’t drastically change color like this (though they can slowly fade/change with age over many years). That’s because for most breeds, the color of the egg is actually part of the shell itself. However, Marans chickens are different. (Megg is a blue copper Marans.)
