We are just 4 days from the start of Winterlude and the Rideau Canal skateway is not ready to open. That's why the Ice Dragon Boat race, scheduled for Feb 3 and 4, has been cancelled. It's so sad! 😢 It was going to be the return of this popular Winterlude event after a two-year pandemic hiatus. The question is, will the canal open during Winterlude? The festival ends on February 20. The National Capital Commission says that we need an average of -10° C for at least two weeks for the ice to be t

We’re so lucky! 😃 The weather cooperated and we’ll have the Rideau Canal open again! Sunday Feb 18 at noon! Don’t play with your chances and grab your skates to go to the canal ASAP! We don’t know if it’s going to be open for long! With how the climate has been changing you never know. So if you missed the opening in January this is your chance to try the canal! Tip: Go early when the ice is smooth. Later in the day it can become very rough and make skating difficult especially if you’re a begi
