After you strain your vanilla extract save your beans and make vanilla sugar, it’s a heavenly treat. Just place your spent beans from the vanilla extract into a jar and cover with sugar. I let mine dry out just a bit on cooling rack, before placing them in the sugar. I use cane sugar, but any sugar will do.
