Diaphragmatic Breathing: Quick Breaths. Here’s a diaphragmatic breathing exercise where I’m focusing on drawing my belly button in on each exhale. These are short and fast breaths either out of the nose or mouth. Benefits for Jiu Jitsu I’ve found from this type of breath work: Increased concentration, energy & motivation. The diaphragm is a broad dome-shaped muscle that separates your thorax from your abdomen. It’s major role is BREATHING! It contracts and relaxes as you breath in and out.
