at least where i’m from (western US) it is not used because it is easier, it is used because it has a more playful connotation as it is something children say often. the opposite of “nuh uh” is “yuh huh” or often “mhm”

2024年5月31日 · It's difficult to say "uh" after "yuh" and difficult to say "huh" after "nuh" so the "huh" and the "uh" became sufficient to identify meaning. This was confirmed when eventually the "n" and the "y" dropped off. Is my totally speculative guess.
