Our collection of webcams allow an unlimited number of viewers to enter the private lives of our "Education" wolves Silas and Nikai, and seven elusive packs of critically endangered wolves via unobtrusive cameras in and around anticipated den sites.

Incredibly adaptable, wolves have inhabited, at one point, virtually all of North America, northern Europe, eastern Africa, and Asia. They tolerate a wide range of temperatures, from -70 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit (-50 to 48.8 degrees Celsius). All of their senses are keen, and they can run, climb, lope, and swim really well.

Gray wolves are the most mobile canid species. Their thick fur (they shed their winter coats as the weather warms) provides insulation with long guard hairs to keep moisture away from their skin. Their long legs and posture allow for flexibility in their movements; they can travel great distances with ease and can sprint relatively short distances.

After decades of aggressive protection, wolves are again doing well in Minnesota. Because they’re so good at getting food, they have plenty of time to play and less need to compete with each other. They’re fun to watch: often wrestling or spending hours sliding down muddy or snow-packed stream banks.

The Gray Wolf is a North American canine on display at ZooAmerica. Despite their name, the gray wolf may have gray, red, brown, black, or almost pure white fur.
