Drop (liquid) - Wikipedia
A drop or droplet is a small column of liquid, bounded completely or almost completely by free surfaces. A drop may form when liquid accumulates at the end of a tube or other surface boundary, producing a hanging drop called a pendant drop.
The physics of water drops and lift-off - Ars Technica
2014年4月13日 · Viscosity helps create a shape that lets liquid pop off the surface it strikes. The flow of fluids is one of the most complex, beautiful, and amazing things in physics. Slow motion pictures of...
Water droplets make an impact - Physics World
2001年5月1日 · Whether standing in the shower, spilling the morning coffee or going to work in the rain, each day typically begins with water droplets splashing off a solid surface. In fact these phenomena are so common that they often go unnoticed.

Water droplet bouncing dynamics - ScienceDirect
2021年3月1日 · After comprehensive understanding of the water droplet bouncing phenomena and mechanisms, numerous advanced droplet bouncing-based applications were developed, such as surface self-cleaning, anti-smudge, anti-fouling, deicing, directional droplet transportation and heat transfer enhancement.
Water Droplets Are Generating Electricity in a Way We Never Knew
2025年3月11日 · The research team, led by Dr. Joe Berry, Dr. Peter Sherrell, and Professor Amanda Ellis, found that when a water droplet encounters a tiny bump or rough spot on a surface, it builds up force until it suddenly “jumps” or “slips” past the obstacle. This movement creates a lasting electrical charge, something scientists had not observed ...
The physics of water droplets on surfaces: exploring the ...
2018年2月9日 · Understanding the behaviour of water droplets can help biophysics students get a better appreciation for the potential applications and challenges of lab-on-a-chip, while applied physics and engineering students may encounter droplets as condensation on cold surfaces.
