2009年2月23日 · My 86 Wahoo! has the smirk my friends 91 doesn't, funny the early Whaler hulls were smirkless and Wahoo! went the other way because of pressure from BW. I have owned several Montauks and still have a 74 and even though I like the Montauk cannot see a significant better build quality in the Whaler.

2023年2月28日 · Fighting a wahoo on light gear is one of the craziest experiences I’ve had on a sport boat. As a captain once explained to me, wahoo are sprinters while tuna are marathon runners. The initial blaze after hooking a wahoo will feel like it’s melting your drag washers, but as long as you hold on through the first run, the fish is much more tame.

2009年5月15日 · Wahoo was a great boat, I've owned both Wahoo and Whaler. I had a 1994 1650 DC with a Yamaha 70 on it that ran forever and still does. The ride and quality are just as good as similar size whalers. I currently own a Montauk 170 and I'm very happy with it as well.

I am seriously considering buying an 18.5' Wahoo Center Console. I have always been a whaler fan and am comparing the Wahoo with a 17' Montauk. I dont need to be sold on the whaler but I am drawn to the Wahoo because it is a center console and that fits my style and lifestyle much more. So what are the group's thoughts on the Wahoo?

2015年1月28日 · PENN's "15" size is indeed a pretty good "finesse" reel when bait fishing for wahoo, although probably a little small for all-around 'hoo applications. I usually set them up with a 25-yard topshot of 25-pound mono, over 40-pound braid to get some extra yardage. A big wahoo can scare you line capacity-wise, but it does not hurt the reel at all.
