That puts the 6AS7 with transconductance of 7000micromhos at about 142ohms. Changing the tube to a 5998 with transconductance around 14000 gets you down to 72 ohms.

2020年5月14日 · Likewise I grabbed a used WA3 a few weeks ago - my first proper taste of tubes. Using Telefunken ECC88 driver tubes & Svetlana Winged C power tube. Quite a wild ride getting used to its sound after using solid state amps for so long.

2020年5月14日 · I owned the WA3 alongside the WA6 1st Gen which I still own. I have listened at length via the Auteur on both the WA3 and WA6 (on the high impedance setting). The tonal balance, imaging, soundstage provided via both hpa were very close. I experienced a greater sense of “thereness”, however, with the WA3 driving the Auteur.

2020年5月14日 · The sound, to my ears, really opens up and has more “heft” and dimensionality compared to that when even Sylvania 7308s are used. The Tung Sol 5998 and Brimar CV4003 are great together in this amplifier. I wish that Woo Audio would re-introduce the WA3 so that others might experience the many positive qualities of the WA3.
