Mar 12, 2013 · varget and 308 loads Look in the .308 loads section. They're all there. 42-45 is the spread, depending on chamber and seating depth. If your rifle doesn't shoot well with any reasonable Varget load you have a gun problem. Personally, I would also try 4895 and BLC(2) in a 20" barrel, but Varget will work fine.

Feb 24, 2014 · I prefer RL-15 over Varget for my 175MK load out of my 308. While I do use Varget for other loads, RL-15 works best for me behind the 175MK. I'm getting 2821fps, ES-5, SD-1.9 with my last time through the chrono. I haven't been able to get that speed or consistency with Varget. RL-15 doesn't work so well for me with the lighter 155gr. bullets.

Feb 2, 2007 · The VV manual lists 150 as being a tad slower than Varget, but similar to H-4350. Unfortunately, burn rate charts can be deceiving because different powders have different burn rate characteristics in different cartridges.

Oct 16, 2012 · I've found Varget and Benchmark to yield similar results for accuracy. I actually have a canister of Benchmark in my cabinet if you're near PA. I decided long ago just to go with Varget since at the time the price difference was about $5 cheaper than Benchmark and I was going through A LOT of Varget powder. Start about 21.5 grains and work up.

Feb 21, 2025 · Using the 109 LRHT. I went up a node to 2950fps. I got better ES. Less than 5 now. 35.0 grain Varget. Federal Match 205 primer. Alpha brass. But I found my best accuracy with a 80 thou jump. I know, seems wrong, but I tried it at 5 off, and worked my way back. They were all pretty good, but at 80 off I can stay at 1/4 moa all the way to a 1,000 ...

May 28, 2007 · I get 100FPS higher velosity with 2520 over Varget, and I can throw the 2520 charges more accurate than my chargemaster can trickle varget. (2880 FPS with 75grain Hornady Match) Varget is still my 308 powder and its great, but AA2520 is cheaper, available at numerous places, flows like water, and you get higher velosity.

Mar 10, 2021 · Ok, from time to time, we have discussed substitutes for Retumbo, and substitutes for Varget, etc. My thought is to focus on what powders are made in the United States, as substitutes if it gets really worse..... That rules out all Hodgdon powders, all Alliant Powders, All Vihtavuori powders...

Apr 2, 2021 · +1 for 4064. I have about 8 lbs of it for 223 and 308. Thats the powder i use for them. I have imr 4320, varget, H380 and 3031 on reserve. My main load was 178 amax with 44.4 grain varget cci large rifle primers lc cases trimmed to 2.008 and bullet seated way out there at 2.31 on the ogive. LONG troat r700. this was good for sub MOA at 300 yards.
