Louis Cachet (born Kristian Vikernes; [a] 11 February 1973), better known as Varg Vikernes (Norwegian: [ˈvɑrɡ ˈvìːkəɳeːs]), is a Norwegian musician and author best known for his early black metal albums and later for his crimes.

In early 1993, he legally changed his first name from "Kristian" to "Varg" and later started to use the name Varg Qisling Larssøn Vikernes (and spelling variations thereof) as his pen-name/artist name.
