Suzhou is a prefecture-level city in Jiangsu Province, administratively divided into six urban districts and four county-level cities. The city’s urban core, Gusu District, is historically known as the "Old Town" and preserves Suzhou’s iconic canals, classical gardens, and cultural heritage.

Suzhou was formerly Su County (simplified Chinese: 宿县; traditional Chinese: 宿縣; pinyin: Sù Xiàn). Suzhou administers five county-level divisions, including one district and four counties. These are further divided into 118 township-level divisions. Suzhou has a monsoon -influenced, humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cwa), with four distinct seasons.

Suzhou is a place of great beauty, with lakes, rivers, ponds, world-famous gardens, and a string of scenic hills along the eastern shore of the lake. It is also home to one of the tallest buildings in the world, the 95-story Suzhou IFS (International Finance Square), and lies at the center of some of the richest agricultural land in China.

2024年8月26日 · There are four county-level cities that constitute the grand city of Suzhou, including Zhangjiagang, Changshu, Taicang and Kunshan, and six districts, including Wujiang, Wuzhong, Xiangcheng, Gusu, Suzhou Industrial Park and Suzhou New District (Huqiu District).

2025年3月22日 · Suzhou is located in the south of Jiangsu province, some 50 miles west of Shanghai, along the old Grand Canal. The city has been famous for its gardens for many centuries.
