Spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK)
MRI features are suggestive of spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK) involving the medial femoral condyle. It is usually a diagnosis in an older age group (>55 years) with a female predilection and usually unilateral, mostly affecting medial tibial plateau.
Subchondral insufficiency fracture of the knee
2024年12月10日 · Subchondral insufficiency fracture of the knee (SIF/SIFK) are stress fractures in the femoral condyles or tibial plateau that occur in the absence of acute trauma, typically affecting older adults. The entity subsumes that previously known as spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK/SPONK) or Ahlbäck disease.
Spontaneous Osteonecrosis of the Knee (SONK) - Orthobullets
2024年12月5日 · Spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK) is an idiopathic condition that leads to the development of a crescent shaped osteonecrosis lesion, mostly commonly in the epiphysis of the medial femoral condyle. Diagnosis can be radiographic for advanced disease but may require MRI in determining the extent of disease.
Spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK): The role of MR …
Compared to radiographs, MRI is superior for morphological, 3-dimensional assessment of the articular contour of the knee joint, rendering it a better tool for outcome predictor for SONK cases. Subchondral low signal intensity band has been regarded as a fracture line, though this is not required for diagnosis of subchondral fracture.
Spontaneous Osteonecrosis of the Knee: A Retrospective Analysis …
2016年11月16日 · In this article, we examined the cause and prognosis of our cases which were initially diagnosed as SONK by using MRI and DEXA. It appears that our cases are inconsistent with the hypothesis that low BMD is a risk factor for microfractures that might lead to …
Early MRI diagnosis and non-surgical management of …
We describe 20 sequential cases of early SONK diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in which non-operative management led to the spontaneous resolution of symptoms and MRI changes. Our data was compared to published series in order to derive more accurate prognostic criteria that may then be used to determine appropriate management.
Spontaneous Osteonecrosis Of The Knee (SONK) - Centeno …
MRI: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is extremely useful for diagnosing SONK in the early stages of the disease. MRIs have an extremely high sensitivity to bone edema, meaning they can visualize bone marrow edema that is localized to the medial femoral condyle.
MRI: MR imaging is the gold standard for detecting SONK, being more sensitive than radiographs and bone scanning, allowing earlier and more detailed indication of subcortical bone and bone marrow abnormality. On T1-weighted MRI, SONK is seen as a focal or diffuse hypo-intense signal
Spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK): The role of MR …
2020年11月19日 · MR imaging findings may help at identifying SONK patient with potential risk of developing bad outcome.
Spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee - European Journal of …
2008年1月17日 · SONK is seen on MRI as a focal or diffuse hypointense signal abnormality on T1-weighted images, and predominantly involves the weight-bearing, subarticular portion of the medial femoral condyle (Figs. 2 and 3). On T2-weighted sequences, there …
