Astronomers recently used a trove of archived images taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope to visually snag a largely unseen population of smaller asteroids in their tracks.

Hubble's unique capabilities allow it to be used as an "asteroid hunter" for this task. Asteroids appear as curved trails in Hubble images.
