Shazand (Persian: شازند) [a] is a city in the Central District of Shazand County, [b] Markazi province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district. [5] At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 19,353 in 5,265 households. [6] . The following census in 2011 counted 21,156 people in 6,231 households. [7] .

مجتمع پتروشیمی شازند یكی از طرحهای زیربنایی و مهم كشور می باشد كه در راستای سیاست های كلی توسعه صنایع پتروشیمی و با اهداف تامین نیاز داخلی كشور و صادرات ایجاد و به بهره برداری رسیده است. این طرح در سال 1363 به تصویب رسید و پس از طی مراحل طراحی، مهندسی و نصب، فاز اول آن در سال 1372 در مدار تولید قرار گرفت.
