The Shambe National Park is a national park in South Sudan, located on the west bank of the White Nile. [2] It was established in 1985 and extends over an area of 620 km 2 (240 sq mi). [3] The national game park is in the remote area of Adior payam and extend southward to Kenisa in Malek payam near Ramciel South Sudan.

Shambe National Park is a haven for birdwatchers, with its diverse wetland and savannah habitats supporting an array of resident and migratory bird species, making it one of South Sudan’s most important avian refuges. This iconic raptor is frequently seen near the park’s waterways, hunting fish with precision and emitting its distinct call.

Sat on the west bank of the White Nile some 300km north of Juba, Shambe National Park is an unknown corner of the least known country on our books. This is true frontier territory and exploring its wildernesses by both sky and water makes for an otherworldly experience.

First gazetted way back in the mid-1980s, the Shambe National Park can be seen as the southern extension of the aforementioned Ez Zeraf Reserve. That makes it home to an important part of the White Nile River ecosystem; a place of curious oxbow lakes and pop-up flood plains.
