Sauherad Church (Norwegian: Sauherad kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Midt-Telemark Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sauherad. It is one of the churches for the Nes og Sauherad parish which is part of the Øvre Telemark prosti in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark.

Sauherad Church is a stone long church built in Romanesque style in the 12th century. The church is known for a fresco in the chancel which was uncovered during restoration in 1953. The fresco, known as 'The Thousand Demons', depicts a myriad of fantastic devil faces.</p>

Sauherad herred ble opprettet i forbindelse med gjennomføringen av formannskapslovene av 1837, med utgangspunkt i Søfde prestegjeld bestående av Søfde (Sauherad) og Næs sogn. Folkemengden i 1835 var 3951 og i 1845 var det 3756 innbyggere i herredet.

Sauherad kommune var ein kommune aust i Telemark fylke. Kommunen grensa til Nome i sør-vest, Bø i vest, Notodden i nord, Kongsberg i aust og Skien i sør-aust. 1. januar 2020 slo kommunen seg saman med Bø med namnet Midt-Telemark kommune. [1] Kommuneadministrasjonen var på Akkerhaugen, som låg sentralt i kommunen.

2022年10月31日 · Sauherad is a former municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Midt-Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Akkerhaugen. The municipality borders Kongsberg, Skien, Nome, Bø, and Notodden.

Sauherad municipality has approximately 4.350 inhabitants and covers a area of 321,4 km2. It is a typical agricultural community with fruit growing playing an important role. The district features the Sauarelva river which twists its way between Lakes Norsjø and Heddalsvatnet with lovely farms along both banks.
