2019年6月14日 · The red hook absolutely matters. Every hard bait I own has a red front treble and black on the back. I feel like it gives the fish a more defined target to eat, and almost every fish I catch has that red hook in their mouth. I liken it to aiming for a spot on your target rather than just aiming for the target.

In case the fish ARE attracted by the red, then they will hit the front hook, and if they miss they will get hung by the back one. Now if the back one were red and they were attracted to that one but and missed, you would go fishless.

2012年11月22日 · I don't use red hooks on cranks, but I do on topwaters. I will put one red hook on the front hook hanger and use regular black on the back. The logic here is that if the red does attract strikes, the fish will hit the middle of the bait. If it misses the middle hook, then it has a good chance of still snagging on the back one.

2014年7月17日 · I honestly haven't noticed a difference on subsurface baits like ripbaits or crankbaits. On topwater I put a red hook on the front of every topwater I own with trebles. Spooks, poppers I would say 9 out of 10 fish have the red treble in their mouth. I quite frankly don't care why they eat it, but they sure do.
