Our mission is noble and essential: to rebuild the roofs of families and individuals living in poverty, while training residents of disadvantaged communities in basic carpentry skills. We focus on building resilient roofs, providing them with the necessary tools to integrate into Puerto Rico’s workforce and improve their economic situation.

By the end of 2020, PRoTechos had completed a total of 55 roofs and trained over 100 people. Despite a pandemic that paralyzed much of the world and additional hurricanes, we were able to complete 200 roofs and train over 150 people by 2024.

PRoTechos’ mission has two parts: to rebuild damaged roofs in underserved communities in Puerto Rico, and to offer community members a paid construction training program. In 2017, Hurricane Maria damaged the roofs of tens of thousands of homes in Puerto Rico.
