Pōtahi marae is located north of Te Kao community in the Far North. It belongs to the iwi of Te Aupouri and connects to the maunga named Tawhitirahi, to the nearby Awapoka River and to the Parengarenga Harbour. The wharenui is named Waimirirangi (Haere-ki-te Rā) after a renowned ancestress and matriarch of the north.

Pūtahi marae is located south of Frasertown. Its principal hapū is Ngāti Hinepehinga of Ngāti Kahungunu iwi. The wharenui is called Te Poho o Hinepehinga. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Takitimu and the awa Wairoa.
