2009年6月20日 · To make a long story short, I plan on changing my name after my father passes away to a Polish one. The reason is because I was adopted, and learned of my Polish heritage (and Finnish, Croatian, Slovenian and Roma ["Gypsy"]) over the past few years (and confirmed through DNA testing).

There is name Aleksa (name's days: March 18th, May 18th) buy it's very rare name and probably many would consider it a bit unconventional, also would recognize that name as a foreign name which recently apeared in Poland (like Roksana, Angelika, Brajan).

2011年5月10日 · my babcia's name was Leonarda.. we called her Lonia. :D and I think that the jewish/yiddish names would've been most unique in pre-war poland, at least compared to the common names of ethnic Poles today. Examples: Menachem, Herman, Mordechaj, Yitzhak, Szmul, Shevah, Moshe, etc.

My issue is with non-Pole hornballs who stare at pics of polish women online or see a polka somewhere and get all hot & horny about it.

It was a common practice at that time to Latinize Polish names and Polonize Latin (or any foreign) names.

2008年4月17日 · and actually most Novaks aren't polish in the 'new' world but come from other slavic countries like czech or slovania.. most of Nowaks are polish however. the name changing didn't necessarily happen the way you described at all. i've never seen one 'phonetic' polish name here in the US. it's either the same as it was back in PL, sans the marks ...
