Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

Peace Week 2022 is a unifying initiative that celebrates and amplifies the many voices and actions that are happening around the International Day of Peace on September 21st. This initiative is co-convened by a growing community of international organizations, grassroots leaders and global networks.

In 1983, in commemoration of the annual International Day of Peace and in solidarity with the United Nations, the NGO Pathways To Peace inaugurated a Minute of Silence of Peace at 12:00 Noon in each time zone that resulted in a Peace Wave around the world.
