It can be used in a similar manner to the 3.5mm jack that you plug in your speakers/headphones with audio devices that support that same port but it is very rarely used.

2013年12月2日 · Xbox One has 2 outputs - one HDMI and one Optical Audio (s/pdif). HDMI carries both audio and video. But if you want to send your audio to a receiver that does not have HDMI inputs, then you can use the optical output from Xbox One. PS4 is exactly the same.

2021年8月18日 · Since the latest Windows 10 update my Digital Audio Output (S/PDIF) is not producing any sound. When I test the output it shows the device in place and reports it as working correctly. I can see the audio output going up and down on the device but no sound is coming through. My Windows OS details are Edition Windows 10 Pro . Version 20H2

2025年3月10日 · Don't worry about the red light you can see from the S-pdif port on the back of the console this is perfectly normal. The s-pdif port is and optical audio out connector on the back of the console and uses light to send sound from the console when connected to a suitable receiver/soundbar.
