2020年1月9日 · Onycha is an incense ingredient which is, to this day, still shrouded in mystery. It’s prevalence within the bible have led many people to become curious about Onycha. Unfortunately, it’s origins are not so clear. The Bible says in Exodus 30:34 :

"Onycha" is a transliteration of the Septuagint onucha, accusative of onux, which means "nail," "claw," "hoof," and also "onyx," a precious stone. The form "onycha" was perhaps chosen to avoid confusion with "onyx," the stone. The Hebrew shecheleth occurs only in Exodus 30:34 as an ingredient of the sacred incense.

Ancient people used it to improve complexion and to help nourish the skin. Perhaps some of the beneficial aspects of benzoin were due to not only the oil itself but also to the other oils compounded with it.

Onycha is the door membrane of a snail-like mollusk found in the Red Sea. This is one of the ingredients used in the Holy Incense in Exodus 30. Our Onycha is cleaned and ready to use.
