2023年4月11日 · To add to sophit's correct answer, calculating structural efficiency as MTOW/OEW is not always informative. It is informative if both aircraft designs aimed to maximize this ratio. For same weight, MTOW might not increase, if range and payload requirements have been satisfied, and there's no more space or need neither for fuel, nor for cargo.

2023年6月7日 · When comparing the OEW to the MTOW it seems, that both values are pretty similar. Given the same OEW, the A330-900 can carry 20 passengers more. What could be the reason, why the A330-900 has a same structural efficiency as the 787 Dreamliner, despite not using any composites?

The only impossible part is the transfer range point - use the maximum range and assume that the aircraft will fly as far with a lower take-off mass as with MTOW.
