What are different types of weights of an aircraft?
2015年2月27日 · Operating empty weight (OEW) (Roughly equivalent to basic empty weight on light aircraft) It is the basic weight of an aircraft including the crew, all fluids necessary for operation such as engine oil, engine coolant, water, unusable fuel and all operator items and equipment required for flight but excluding usable fuel and the payload. Payload
Are general relationships between MTOW and OEW valid for novel ...
2015年8月20日 · This design procedure uses historical correlations in the fuel fraction determination and through the historical trend in relationships between MTOW and OEW. Is this approach still valid for novel configurations? Most importantly, is it known whether this logarithmically linear relationship between MTOW and OEW independent on configuration?
Why has structural efficiency (OEW / MTOW) not improved despite ...
2023年4月11日 · To add to sophit's correct answer, calculating structural efficiency as MTOW/OEW is not always informative. It is informative if both aircraft designs aimed to maximize this ratio. For same weight, MTOW might not increase, if range and payload requirements have been satisfied, and there's no more space or need neither for fuel, nor for cargo.
Why do composite materials not decrease the OEW
2023年6月7日 · When comparing the OEW to the MTOW it seems, that both values are pretty similar. Given the same OEW, the A330-900 can carry 20 passengers more. What could be the reason, why the A330-900 has a same structural efficiency as the 787 Dreamliner, despite not using any composites?
What are the B737 MAX 8's OEW and max payload?
2018年12月8日 · Wikipedia gives 45,070 kg as the MAX 8's OEW and 20,882 kg as its maximum payload. Share. Improve this answer.
airliner - What would be the range of a cargo 777 full of usable …
2023年9月27日 · The empty tanks would add to the OEW. So instead of starting from 318,000 you might start a few thousand pounds heavier. To estimate the best achievable range, you want to extrapolate the line from the first corner on the payload-range diagram (the one at constant brake release gross weight).
weight - What are engineers trying to maximize when they design …
2021年8月18日 · MTOW = OEW + PL + FW. - This expression seems to indicate that the only free variable is the operating empty weight, and that's what they are trying to maximize, but obviously that doesn't make sense.
How do I calculate aircraft range with these parameters?
2015年10月30日 · The maximum range can be done the same way using MTOW - MZFW for the fuel mass. MZFW - OEW will tell you how much payload remains at this point. The only impossible part is the transfer range point - use the maximum range and assume that the aircraft will fly as far with a lower take-off mass as with MTOW.
What is Full Fuel load and how does it differ from Fuel Capacity?
2020年7月5日 · The payload does not include the fuel itself. Payload means the total weight of all passengers, their baggage and all cargo on board. If you add this payload weight to your OEW (Operating Empty Weight), you get the ZFW (Zero Fuel …
Determining Required Fuel from Payload/Range Diagram
2024年3月11日 · To find the fuel mass for an arbitrary payload and a given range you need to draw a horizontal line at the right height of the OEW plus payload scale and then move rightward until you are above the desired range on the X-axis. The brake release gross weight for this payload-range combination can then be interpolated from the diagonal lines.
