Located just up the river from Hobart (Tasmania's southern capital), Mona's subterranean architecture showcases the highlights (and lowlights) of David Walsh’s $110m private collection of art and antiquities, as well as hosting a busy exhibitions program.

The Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) was built by David Walsh to house his collection of ancient, modern, and contemporary art. Mona has eight spectacular guest pavilions facing east across the Derwent. They come in one- or two-bedroom models with ancient art (Roman coins and mosaics, central American treasures) and modern canvases by Whiteley and Nolan. Each has a unique character, but wine fridges and water views come as standard.

Mona is mostly accessible for mobility aids (wheelchairs, walking frames and scooters), prams, and assistance and guide dogs. The museum has a ground-level entrance, including an information desk, cloaking and shop; and three subterranean floors: B1 nearest the top, then B2, and B3 at the very bottom.
