Mercon V vs Mercon | BobIsTheOilGuy
2007年5月17日 · So the earlier comment about shudder complaints with Mercon V (or even Mercon) is a new one to me. In my reading Mercon is closer to a conventional fluid. Mercon V is semi-synthetic or blend. Their slight difference in viscosity is negligible imo. The ad pack in Mercon V is probably stouter with more anti-wear chemicals to prolong life.
Mercon V replace Mercon in all applications? | BobIsTheOilGuy
2005年6月3日 · I have a '99 Cobra with the T-45 manual trans, and it uses regular Dexron III/Mercon ATF, and I would prefer to use Motorcraft but all I can find is Mercon V. I have read various forums while searching this, and some people have been using Mercon V fluid in their Dexron III/Mercon-specified transmissions.

Mercon V alternatives? | BobIsTheOilGuy
2009年2月25日 · If the manual says Dex/Merc III, then you don't necessarily have to use Mercon V. Typically if an application is rated for Merc V, it is backwards compatible with Dex III, but not always the other way around. MaxLife Over Mercon V - BobIsTheOilGuy
2020年10月28日 · Mercon V is probably close to the cost of Maxlife, and it works well in the transmissions it's specced for. Maxlife does seem to work as a Mercon V replacement, though. My area MaxLife is $17 per 4 qt bottle and MotorCraft is $25 per same. According to Valvoline tech MaxLife additivies surpase Mercon V additives.

2023年1月20日 · While Maxlife is a good option with that being said I do not believe it is a one size fits all type of situation with it. Maxlife claims to be compatible with Mercon V and Mercon LV, problem with that is Mercon V and Mercon LV are not compatible with each other. You might be stuck with Ford Motorcraft or Mobil 1
