Matajur (pronounced [mataˈjuːɾ]) is a 1,642-meter (5,387 ft) mountain in the Julian Alps on the border between Italy and Slovenia. It is located on the border between the Soča Valley and the Italian mountainous region known as Venetian Slovenia, with views over the Adriatic Sea. Its prominence is 1,385 meters (4,544 ft).

Matajur je razgledna gora, ki se nahaja na meji med Slovenijo in Italijo. Z vrha je lep razgled na Kobariški oz. Breginjski Stol za katerim levo od njega opazimo Karnijske Alpe in del zahodnih Julijcev, kjer kraljuje skupina Kanina. Na vzhodno stran pa opazimo Krn in greben Krnčice za katerim opazimo vrh Triglava.

5 天之前 · A beautiful and easy route to reach this spectacular peak is Mount Matajur (1645m), where it is possible to admire the fantastic panorama of the pinnacle. The itinerary starts from the Alpine Refuge Guglielmo Pelizzo (1325m), near the Astronomical Observatory, and follows the Naturalistic trail of Monte Matajur which proceeds in a loop.

2023年5月15日 · Matajur is a quite popular destination for hikers from both countries all year round, and many do speedy ascents around sunrise or sunset to observe the sun painting the sky in bright colors. We did a circle tour around and up to the peak to enjoy the view on the surrounding peaks from all angles.

Mount Matajur is part of the Mia-Lubia-Matajur anticline, a transition area between the Southern Alps and the Dinarides. The mountain features sedimentary formations ranging from the Lias (Jurassic) to the Upper Cretaceous, deposited between 212 and 65 million years ago.
