Mandeni (also Mandini) is a town in iLembe District Municipality in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The town is roughly 22 km north-east of Stanger and 96 km north of Durban.

Mandeni Municipality has committed 2024 to a robust community engagement and economic development for our residents. It is a pleasure to once again share with you the progress of our Municipality, as well as the future projects that we wish to implement this year.

Mandeni Local Municipality (formerly eNdondakusuka Local Municipality) is an administrative area in the iLembe District of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Manufacturing, elementary work and plant and machine work are the highest non-farming categories of labour.

Mandeni Local Municipality is located along the northern coast of KwaZulu-Natal, approximately 100km north of eThekwini Metro, and 80km south of the uMhlathuze, Municipality. It lies along the N2 national and provincial corridor, as well as the north-south rail link connecting the economic hubs of Durban and Richards Bay.

Mandeni is the only urban settlement of substance and functions as the service centre for a substantial hinterland. Mandeni consists of fragmented pockets of intensive urban settlement separated by areas of little or no development. Four rural settlements, Hlomendlini, Macambini, Mathonsi and Ndulinde, are each under an Inkosi.

Mandeni, being one of the municipalities under the iLembe District Municipality, has a diversified population that contributes to South Africa’s colorful tapestry. The municipality encompasses a large geographical region, including both urban and rural environments.
