2023年10月29日 · Do token creatures trigger descend? With Caverns of Ixalan dropping soon I wanted to know if the cards that check to see "how many times you've descended this turn" count things like creature tokens and treasure tokens dying as they do hit the graveyard.

What does Descend instruct me to do? Nothing, because it's a value check, not an activity I can do. There are previous ability words, which check for things in graveyard. Delirium for number of card types, Threshold whether you have 7+ cards. Both are nouns. If Descend X was Descent X it would be in line with the others.

So why does the wording specifying permanent card matter? Per CR 111.6 'A token isn’t a card (even if represented by a card that has a Magic back or that came from a Magic booster pack).' Therefore, tokens going to the graveyard do NOT trigger descend. Good luck …

Descend 8 means that there's an effect or added effect that happens when there's 8 or more permanent cards in your GY. Ignore Descend 8 and re-read the card and see if it makes more sense, all you need to do to cast this spell is pay the mana cost, the effect of it changes if there's 8 perm cards in the gy

2023年11月16日 · I think this is a glitch or something, FYI it works with conjured copies of cards being put into graveyard, if it's a permanent. I liked the descend mechanic and made a deck around it, I used treasure cards at first they did not work so switched to basic tap and sacrifice stuff. Evolving wilds triggers descend, as well as promising vein both lands.

Descend was worded like that because there is quite a bit of self-mill in the set. It wouldn’t work if descend worked with permanents instead of permanent cards. Reply reply

For example the Mycotryants descend only triggers at the end step. But if it was a creature that caused the descend, would that create 2 1/1 fugus token to be created?
