This is what I believe to be an INERT M61 or M61A1 APC-T projectile for the 75mm Gun M3. This gun was mounted on the M4 Sherman. I’m not sure how this projectile differs from the very similar 76mm M62.

2015年10月8日 · The standard was APC or APCBC, designed to work against face hardened armor by using a cap over the shell to destroy the face hardened layer. M61 and M72 were both APC rounds, and would not shatter when hitting the face hardened armor on a Mk IV.

2021年10月13日 · The APC round for the Army 3” is the M62 designation, ( I won’t confuse the issue with the other commonly mistaken Army 3” and Navy 3”/50 issue). The M62 was loaded into the extremely rare 3” lacquered steel case OR the M26 case. The only correct case for this M61 projectile ( a Sherman tank round) is the much shorter brass 75mm M18 case.

2022年6月14日 · Over the past 20 years I've seen huge numbers of inert loaded 57mm Gun APCAPT and 106mm RR HEP-T rounds. As an interesting side note, they used the same pattern of inert rounds for a variety of cartridges. The white markings on black paint, all components marked dummy/inert, hole in the case with a wooden block simulating propellant weight etc.
