The Tai Lü people (Tai Lue: ᦺᦑᦟᦹᧉ, Chinese: 傣仂, Dǎi lè, Lao: ລື້, Lư̄, Thai: ไทลื้อ, RTGS: Thai Lue, Vietnamese: Người Lự) are an ethnic group of China, Laos, Thailand, Burma and Vietnam. They speak a Southwestern Tai language.

Lu is the pinyin and Wade–Giles romanization of several distinct Chinese surnames that are written with different characters in Chinese. Depending on the character, it may be spelled Lú, Lǔ, or Lù when pinyin tone diacritics are used. Lu 盧 and Lu 陸 are the most common: both are among the 100 most common surnames in China. [1]

Population: According to the census data on 53 ethnic minorities as of 1 April 2019, the total population of Lu is 6,757 (of which 3,439 are male and 3,318 female). Language: The official language of Lu people is Lu, belonging to the Tay-Thai language group, the Kra-Dai (Tai-Kadai) language family.
