NASA Selects Flying Mission to Study Titan for Origins, Signs of Life
2019年6月27日 · Advancing our search for the building blocks of life, the Dragonfly mission will fly multiple sorties to sample and examine sites around Saturn’s icy moon. Dragonfly will launch in 2026 and arrive in 2034. The rotorcraft will fly to dozens of promising locations on Titan looking for prebiotic chemical processes common on both Titan and Earth.
In Depth | Titan – NASA Solar System Exploration
Saturn's largest moon, Titan, is an icy world whose surface is completely obscured by a golden hazy atmosphere. Titan is the second largest moon in our solar system. Only Jupiter's moon Ganymede is larger, by just 2 percent. Titan is bigger than Earth's moon, and larger than even the planet Mercury.
What is Consuming Hydrogen and Acetylene on Titan?
2010年6月2日 · On Titan, where temperatures are around 90 Kelvin (minus 290 degrees Fahrenheit), a methane-based organism would have to use a substance that is liquid as its medium for living processes, but not water itself. Water is frozen solid on Titan's surface and much too cold to support life as we know it.

The Mysterious ‘Lakes' on Saturn's Moon Titan
2015年6月18日 · Saturn's moon Titan is home to seas and lakes filled with liquid hydrocarbons, but what forms the depressions on the surface? A new study using data from the joint NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) Cassini mission suggests the moon's surface dissolves in a process that's similar to the creation of sinkholes on Earth.
Scientists Solve the Mystery of Methane in Titan's Atmosphere
2006年2月28日 · The presence of methane in Titan's atmosphere is one of the major enigmas that the Cassini-Huygens mission to Saturn's system is trying to resolve, they noted. Scientists have long known that Titan's atmosphere contains methane, ethane, acetylene and many other hydrocarbon compounds.
2010年3月30日 · water on the surface of Titan… Are the reactions between Titan aerosols and water fast enough to produce oxygen-containing, prebiotic molecules in solidifying pools of water on Titan? In addition…
Huygens Probe | Spacecraft – NASA Solar System Exploration
The Huygens probe successfully landed on Saturn's largest moon Titan at about 11:30 UTC on January 14, 2005. The descent lasted two hours and 27 minutes. The probe survived another 72 minutes on the surface of Titan. This was the first - and, so far, the only - …
