2025年2月11日 · Located just outside Hilo and a great place to bring young kids, the Panaʻewa Rainforest Zoo is the only tropical zoo in the United States. In the zoo you can find a variety of rainforest animals and endangered Hawaiian animals such as spider monkeys, lemurs, nene geese (the Hawaiian State bird), and over 80 other animal species.

The Zoo is located approximately 6 miles from downtown Hilo, and in addition to driving or taking a taxi, Zoo visitors may use the free Hele-On-Bus.
