As Kei trucks have seen a sharp increase in popularity outside of Japan over the past few years, so too has the number of people coming to ask for information about buying/importing/owning a kei truck in their specific region.

Hi Kei friends, I just recently invested a solid chunk into importing a dozen kei trucks as a used car dealer into Michigan. I’m assembling my CBP and EPA paperwork to bring to the Michigan DMV. All were cleared for import and are in possession. An acquaintance told me today that michigan has banned Kei vehicles from street legal titles.

2015年2月19日 · Initially, this was one of the appealing aspects of kei trucks: it was a cheap, usable alternative to overpriced and sometimes limited UTV, RTV and side by sides. Look at the cost of a new Gator or Kubota RTV, you can buy 2-3 if not 4 decent little trucks for that money, haul more cargo and do it more comfortably.

2021年6月30日 · While what you're saying isn't wholly untrue, you're oversimplifying and not taking into account the added obstacle of getting the kei truck CARB legal to properly register in California. To answer OP's question, most Kei trucks you'll see in California will not have California plates. Make of that what you will.

2021年12月15日 · The older trucks are allowed to get a standard tag. The key here is the age of the vehicle at import date. So buying a car that was imported before it was 25 years old then trying to get it plated after it turns 25 does not get you the correct papers to do this.

2023年4月7日 · I think the 35mph road thing is for Low Speed Vehicles (LSV’s). It’s basically for supped up golf carts and the like. Kei trucks are not in this category. Once registered, I believe they are good to go on any and all public roads. Whether that is advisable, well, that has been covered in this sub pretty well haha. Good luck!

2022年6月3日 · He even stated that the kei trucks already registered in Oregon couldn’t be grandfathered in and would be soon unregister-able. Yesterday I saw another minicab just like mine puttering around town with Oregon plates. Big slap in face. Asking for any assistance in moving this in the right direction? Any help is greatly appreciated.

2010年1月24日 · From all the reading I've done here I take it Tatou does not make a track for Kei trucks, and the tracks, as well as the truck, must be modified quite a bit to make them fit. I've been impressed by reading Darcy's (Samuri Trucks) page, posts, and videos, but he's not in the US, so I was hoping someone down here might be doing something similar.
