2018年5月16日 · KLB 596 has been finished in the livery of Browns Blue (Coaches) Ltd of Markfield, Leicester. It represents one of nine EX-LT RT's operated by Browns Blue between 1958 - 1963. The vehicle in question being HLW 160 EX RT 173. The only non-roofbox RT opeated, all adverts both exterior and interior date from the late fifties.

KLB 596 has been repainted into Browns Blue livery and has been used in conjunction with that company’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Browns Blue (Leicestershire’s largest independent operator) sold out to the Midland Red in March 1963.

KLB 596 with its Weymann 56-seat bodywork, dates from 1950, leaving London Transport service as late as 1978 (from Barking garage). Browns Blue Coaches Ltd operated 9 ex-RT buses - and this preserved vehicle was repainted around the 50th anniversary of that company's sale to Midland Red (in 1963).

So this vehicle is the next best thing - KLB 596 (Ex-LT RT 1347) was transformed into a replica of HLW 160, the only non-roof box RT that Browns Blue operated, to celebrate 50 years since Browns Blues was taken over by Midland Red in 1963.

Preserved former London Transport RT1347 registration KLB 596 has been repainted to represent one of nine similar vehicles acquired second-hand by Browns Blue Coaches Ltd of Markfield, Leicestershire in 1958.

So Mick has done the next best thing and has purchased KLB 596 transforming it into a replica of HLW 160 which was the only non-roof box RT that Browns Blue operated. There are large numbers of preserved RTs, and deservedly so. They were popular buses with passengers as well as drivers and conductors, and their departure was deeply felt. Despite the post-war standard RTs being fifty years old, they have lasted well, in the main.
