Al Pratt / Atom appears in the Smallville two-part episode "Absolute Justice", portrayed by Glenn Hoffman. This version was a member of the Justice Society of America (JSA) and a physics professor at Calvin College in the 1970s who was arrested during a student protest and framed for fraud by the U.S. government, who sought to take down the JSA.

In 1951, Pratt retired along with the rest of the JSA, after the group refused to reveal their secret identities and work for the government. Pratt then revealed himself as The Atom to his sweetheart Mary James, as well as her parents, and then proposed to her. They eventually married in 1952 and had a happy life together [2].

When the Justice Society of America reformed, Al was one of their charter members. He adopted a new code name, Atom-Smasher, in memory of his mentor, the Atom and his grandfather, the reluctant villain Cyclotron. He also ditched the dyed-red mohawk and changed his uniform to more closely resemble the Atom's.

He became one of the founding members of the Justice Society of America and later joined the All-Star Squadron. He was present when the JSA battled Ian Karkull. As a result of the battle, Atom was one of those who was bathed in mystical energy which kept him young for decades.
