Interleukin 4 - Wikipedia
The interleukin 4 (IL4, IL-4) is a cytokine that induces differentiation of naive helper T cells (T h 0 cells) to T h 2 cells. Upon activation by IL-4, T h 2 cells subsequently produce additional IL-4 in a positive feedback loop.
Recent advances in understanding the role of IL-4 signaling
STAT6 is so vital for the actions of IL-4 that Stat6-deficient mice phenocopy many of the defects observed with Il4- or Il4ra-deficient mice (e.g., related to Th2 differentiation and Ig class switch).
Interleukin-4: A Cytokine to Remember - PMC
IL-4 plays important roles in a myriad of cellular events, making it difficult to study its effects, particularly in vivo, on any one system. Although this review focuses on its neurological functions, most of what is known about IL4 comes from studies of peripheral immune cells, such as macrophages and lymphocytes.

2025年3月30日 · IL4 is considered an important cytokine for tissue repair, counterbalancing the effects of proinflammatory type 1 cytokines, however, it also promotes allergic airway inflammation. Moreover, IL-4, a type 2 cytokine, mediates and regulates a variety of human host responses such as allergic, anti-parasitic, wound healing, and acute inflammation.
Recent advances in understanding the role of IL-4 signaling
2021年9月7日 · Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a four-α-helical bundle type I cytokine with broad pleiotropic actions on multiple lineages. Major actions of IL-4 were initially discovered for B and T cells, but this cytokine acts on more than a dozen different target cells spanning the innate and adaptive immune systems and is produced by multiple different cellular sources.
Regulation of IL4 gene expression by T cells and therapeutic
2003年7月1日 · Acute expression of the IL4 gene by differentiated T H 2 cells is regulated by many positive and negative inducible transcription factors, such as nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT ...

2012年2月24日 · Il4 regulation in Tfh cells appears distinct from the classical T helper 2 (Th2) cell pathway, but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown. We found that hypersensitivity site V (HS V; also known as CNS2), a 3′ enhancer in the Il4 locus, is essential for IL-4 production by Tfh cells.
