May 23, 2013 · Microsoft supported the HD-DVD and many of us diehard loyal XBox 360 owners stood strong behind the HD-DVD format of the XB360. Although, Sony (through underhanded maneuvering) paid several millions of dollars to the movie houses to support it's format versus the HD-DVD format.

If you want to continue using that player, you'll have to hook it up to another working Xbox 360 console. There are no plans or announcements to add support for the HD DVD player on the Xbox One.

Jun 13, 2021 · HD DVDs are notorious for suffering from disc rot. Firmware updates still require an online connection. But I would assume wither the discs, the player, or both have give up the ghost.
