The final test for me is whether or not they drop into the barrel/chamber of the specific gun/s, regardless of the gauge reading. Use the gun's barrel as the gauge.

I shoot lead bullets in 38 SPL cases out of a few of my 357s,and in doing so I will get a lead ring build up in the chambers.

But at a minimum, I think it's prudent for any rimfire owner to measure headspace and firing pin protrusion. Headspace should be 0.010"-0.020" larger than the protrusion. Less than 0.010" means you have a very real danger of chamber damage on a dry fire.

In a normal chamber they are just fine and really don't generate enough extra pressure to hurt the lifespan of a .22 as over-engineered as the 10/22 is.

2024年11月1日 · There's a slight bulge at the base of the cartridges that isn't letting them fully chamber. The Virginian Dragoon IIRC has recessed chambers. They were excellent revolvers made to tight specs. Possibly the bullets have made a bulge at the case mouth, prevention full chambering. Check fit of the loaded ammo in the cylinder well it's out of the gun.
