Why is a sword and magic character called a “Gish”? - Reddit
One of the specialized githyanki types was the gish, who was essentially a multi-class spellcaster (fighter/mage or thief/mage; githyanki do not have clerics). Over time, D&D fans picked up the term and started using it to refer to fighter/mage characters in general, especially if …
Best Gish in 5e? : r/dndnext - Reddit
On that line the best caster based Gish is bladesinger. So many spells for all levels of play and plenty of non melee potential for certain situations. And the best martial Gish IMO is probably the hexblade. It’s a nice hit die and weapon proficiencies. It can easily be built in a few different way depending on how you want to be.

You can also have either a gish-in-a-can or a combination gish. A gish-in-a-can can fight and cast spells even from early levels, such as a Duskblade. A combination gish staples a mundane and magical pair of classes together, which can be stronger, but usually struggles at early levels--like a Fighter/Wizard/Abjurant Champion/Eldritch Knight.

What's your favorite Gish build (both flavour and mechanically)?
2021年2月28日 · Eldricht Knight and Sorcerer makes for the best gish EVER for "regular" gish, while Arcane Trickster + Sorcerer makes the ultimate best gish for people that prefer the duplicity of guerilla / ambush warfare tactics. Finally, as usual, Paladin mixed with a bit of any caster to expand utility and get more slots "earlier" is always a great choice.
How is a gish in 5e meant to be played/how should it feel?
2021年2月21日 · Yeah, most gish classes get something like that at high levels, like valor bard and eldritch knight fighter. It's one reason why the attack rider cantrips are worth considering. However, even with the second attack, you're not getting extra attack and probably can't dual-wield, so those cantrips still have mild anti-synergy with things like hex ...

2024年3月28日 · What are some of your favourite gish subclasses in D&D 5e? Not multiclasses, not complicated Hexblade/something builds? Single-classed subclasses that blend martial and magic well? 2019年8月6日 · The way it was explained to me was the best gish was the one that had the balance between Magic/Melee you liked the most. So a Bladesinger is Magic main with a side of Melee, but Hexblades and EK's are at the opposite end and are Melee mains with a side of Magic.

Different Kinds of Gish : r/DnD - Reddit
2021年11月23日 · Personal favorite is a heavier lean caster than pure balance like the college of swords bard. I will say though I think one of your examples really doesn't fit Gish, that are spell casters in some way to show a distinction between a bread and butter fighter with a +1 sword but by your third example pretty much every non caster that has a magic weapon (so the vast majority at medium and high ...
