The Gaesatae or Gaesati (Latin Gaesati, Greek Γαισάται) were a group of Gallic mercenary warriors who lived in the Alps and near the river Rhône in the 3rd century BC. They fought against the Roman Republic at the Battle of Telamon in 225 BC, and later in 221 BC.

The Gaesatae is a unique melee unit of the Gallic civilization in Civilization VI. It replaces the Warrior. +5 Combat Strength vs. anti-cavalry units. Costs no Gold to maintain. +10 Combat Strength when fighting units with a higher base Combat Strength. +5 Combat Strength when attacking and defending against District defenses.

Polybius calls them Gaesatae, describing it as a word which means 'serving for hire'. They come with their own kings, Concolitanus and Aneroetes, who have probably been elected from their number in the Celtic fashion.

2023年8月12日 · Gaesatae is one of the most durable early units. Civilpedia is the questionmark (?) in the top right corner. Civ6 does a very good job at explaining what units upgrade into. If it's a melee class unit like a Gaesatae, it'll say on its page, that it upgrades into swordsman.
