2019年9月25日 · I believe you will enjoy range trips more with a softer shooting gun. I've got a SP101 Model 5720 2 1/4" 357(26 oz) for CC and a GP100 6 shot 4.2" 357(40 oz). The GP is more enjoyable for me at the range especially with 357s. You're probably aware some 7 shot GP100 owners have had some issues. I'm not sure if that relates to new ones.

2015年7月29日 · The GP100 was not intended to replace the Security-Six, rather it was to provide another option, much like S&W did with their K and L frame DA revolvers. Production started in 1986 with the GP100, however Security-Six production continued until 1988 when sales finally dropped to a point where they were no longer profitable.

2015年9月12日 · Keep in mind that when the .357 Redhawks were made there was no GP100 yet, just the Security Six, so Ruger was attempting to make them as a "super strong" alternative to the Six series for .357 shooters. In 1986 the GP100 came out, and any need for a .357 Redhawk was pretty much dead.

2023年12月14日 · Ruger seems to do runs of 327 FedMag in batches. For a long time, none we're available, then suddenly there were a bunch of SP101s on the auction sites. In fact, I had given up and spent way too much on a S&W 632, when I wanted a GP100 in 327 FedMag and would've taken a SP101s which was briefly plentiful.

2010年11月10日 · GP100 is right on with his assessment of cleaning blue. I have owned nothing but blued guns all my life and they are quicker to show fingerprints, the surface finish can and does chemically react which appears as a change in color or shade and the surface finish can be removed through normal use.

2019年8月6日 · I bought a Match Champion 4 inch after 3 trips out target shooting I gave up on it and went back to my blued 6 inch GP100 surly do like that piece. Traded the Match for a 6 inch security six with the 200th anniversary logo on it & about 90% blue and a S&W model 60. The old Ruger shoots wonderful and the 60 is a carry piece have not fired it yet.

2014年6月24日 · Scoping a GP100 – Advice? I’m considering scoping my GP100. Currently, I use my Gp100 as a range and hiking revolver. The scope would mostly be to help my eyes out a bit. Oddly enough, my eyes just aren’t as “eagle-eyed” as they were yesterday. I have never owned a scoped handgun and don’t know where to start.
