2024年12月9日 · GNUnet helps building a new Internet. GNUnet is a network protocol stack for building secure, distributed, and privacy-preserving applications. With strong roots in academic research, our goal is to replace the old insecure Internet protocol stack.

The CADET subsystem is at the heart of the GNUnet project because it is responsible for secure end-to-end communications between peers (nodes) in the GNUnet overlay network. Users can chat and send files to each other on the GNUnet network using a simple CADET tool.

If you were using an Operating System with the APT package manager, GNUnet could be installed as simple as: $ apt-get install gnunet Please beware that some distributions may include outdated GNUnet packages!

Your GNUnet installation ships with a default configuration of remote Start Zones. The first is .gnunet.org, which points to the authoritative zone of the GNUnet project. This Start Zone allows you to resolve names ending with .gnunet.org.

GNUnet is also Free Software and thus the source code is available, so you do not have to worry about being spied upon by the software. The following table summarises the main differences between GNUnet and other systems.
