Why is the F/A-18 so slow? I’m curious, what is it about the F/A-18 that makes it slower than it’s competitors? Is it engine power, aerodynamics, a combination of both or something else entirely. Compare a legacy hornet to a Mig-29 for example. Both aircraft have a similar size, similar weights, engine thrust, wing area and profile.
