2011年1月17日 · That's a lot of ground to cover and I'm not at all convinced that a notional F-35D would be significantly cheaper than a F-22 would be. A RAND study estimated it'd cost approximately $13 billion to restart the F-22 line and build 75 jets. You'd probably have to spend close to that just to redesign and test a new F-35 variant.

2012年5月2日 · To be fair, F-35 IOC is indeed rather underpacked - probably due to overoptimistic expectations on the blk 4 schedule. Like, leaving full weapon integration out in retrospect is highly doubtful. But that's me being smart many years later...and it's under question mark if Su-57 and J-20 actually escaped similar problems.

2012年5月2日 · If a two-seat version of the F-35 was developed (Call it the F-35D) for the USMC and/or the USN it would likely be a modified F-35B forward fuselage (Lift-fan replaced by a second seat) attached to an F-35C (Centre and aft-fuselage plus wings, tailplane and landing gear) and be deployed on a regular carrier.
