As the county seat of the world-famous Humboldt County, California, the City of Eureka is the heart of the U.S. redwood coast. Eureka is the market and cultural center of a beautiful region filled with iconic redwoods—the world’s tallest trees—and stunningly beautiful rugged remote ocean landscapes.

The majority of the information housed in Eureka History is inspired by "Eureka: An Architectural View", also known as "The Green Book". This resource is the most comprehensive historic inventory created to date and was undertaken by the Eureka Heritage Society in the 1990s.

Situated along the spectacular Northern California coastline 280 miles north of San Francisco, the City of Eureka is one of California's best-kept secrets. The city is bordered on one side by beautiful and functional Humboldt Bay, and on the other by mountains lush with giant redwoods which offer a reminder of the area's rich logging heritage.

Located near the waterfront in the heart of Old Town, Eureka's California Welcome Center invites guests and locals alike to experience Eureka. The Welcome Center is also home to the Eureka Main Street office and the City's Economic Development team and serves as a central hub for City events and community projects.
