Mission Statement: The Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement (BNE) protects the public health by combatting the illegal use of and trade in controlled substances and by safeguarding the legitimate use of controlled substances in healthcare as defined in law and regulations.

Businesses that handle controlled substances must register with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Controlled substances include drugs and medications for treating animals or humans. These businesses must register: Medical doctors, veterinarians, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and teaching institutions.
