Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (Bengali: মহাপ্রভু শ্রীচৈতন্য দেব; Sanskrit: चैतन्य महाप्रभु, romanized: Caitanya Mahāprabhu), born Vishvambhara Mishra (IAST: Viśvambhara Miśra[2]) (18 February 1486 – 14 June 1534 [3]), was an Indian Hindu saint from Bengal and the founder of Gaudiya Vaishnavism.

Chaitanya (Sanskrit: चैतन्य) refers variously to 'awareness', 'consciousness', 'Conscious Self', 'intelligence' or 'Pure Consciousness'. [1] It can also mean energy or enthusiasm. [2] The meaning of name Chaitanya also stands for "State of Conscious Energy". [3]
