Is there a difference between RJ-45 plugs for Cat-5e and Cat-6?
There are two types of RJ-45 (AKA 8P8C) plugs used to terminate Ethernet cables. Cat-6 and Cat-5e should work with either type. The only thing you have to look out for is the crimper/plug combination. If you have used your current crimper/plug combo to make working cables in the past, it should still work with Cat-5, Cat-5e and Cat-6.
Difference between Cat 6a and Cat 6 plug - Server Fault
2017年2月28日 · That said, again if you need certification then it's probably just best to spend the extra money on Cat 6a parts. Getting technical: (this information is all pulled directly from primary sources) ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 (Definition of Cat 6 and Cat 6a) IEC 60603-7-4 (Cat 6 unshielded), IEC 60603-7-41 (Cat 6a unshielded) IEC 60603-7-5 (Cat 6 shielded)
Why would CAT6 connectors not work with CAT5e cable?
2024年10月15日 · While the cables and connectors look very similar, there's a difference. Category 6 uses thicker 22 AWG wire, while Category 5 uses thinner 24 or 26 AWG wire. This causes two different problems: The smaller wire pairs (CAT5) aren't large enough to securely fit in the connectors made for the larger wire pairs (CAT6).
networking - Cat 6e vs Cat 6a - Server Fault
2012年8月21日 · Cat 6a cable is supposed to provide a bandwidth of 500MHz. Some cable analyzers will be able to report on that. Cat 5e can support full duplex gigabit operations, so in the vast majority of applications even cat 6 is unnecessary at present, but I …

CAT6 wire pair details? - Server Fault
2011年10月25日 · 6 - RX-The remaining 4 pins are unused. Note that 1/2 form a pair and should be wired to a twisted pair in the cable. Similarly, 3/6 form a pair and should be wired to a twisted pair in the cable. A typical CAT5 or CAT6 four pair run can carry two fast Ethernet links since each only needs two pairs. For Gigabit, it's: 1 - A+ 2 - A-3 - B+ 4 - C+ ...

wiring - Cat6 CCA or Cat5e Pure Copper - Server Fault
2012年8月26日 · Certified CAT 6 is rated for 500MHz bandwidth. No way CCA can support that bandwidth, I'd love to share CCA bandwidth rating as a comparison but CCA has no ratings. Using CCA the higher frequencies will travel along the copper skin of the conductor only, and can't achieve same bandwidth as a pure copper center conductor.

How to use a Tone Generator to trace a network cable
We have a tone generator kit for tracing network cables, but I am having trouble using it correctly.. The tone generator end plugs into the network cable I am trying to trace, and then I assume I should be able to go into the server room and just swipe the probe across the ends of the patch cables while still plugged into the switch, and hear the tone, but that doesn't seem to work.
